Alex Kosyla
Senior Associate
Alex is a Chicago native who has represented clients throughout Cook County, as well as the surrounding suburbs. Alex was admitted to the Illinois bar in 2015, and has had the opportunity to represent clients in both jury and bench trials. Alex has litigated cases ranging from administrative violations, to breach of contract, to attempted murder, as well as many legal matters in between. Alex focuses first on developing a close relationship with his clients in order to familiarize himself with each client’s specific issue, and litigates each case as if it were his own. Alex is a certified mediator through the Center for Conflict Resolution located in Chicago, and has mediated numerous disputes to a mutually satisfactory resolution. Successful mediation can be used to significantly reduce the cost and timeframe of litigation. Prior to joining RKF Global, Alex was a partner in a boutique law firm specializing primarily in civil litigation. Alex takes pride in representing his clients in court, and is a zealous advocate who will ensure the protection of his client’s rights, while simultaneously achieving the best result possible through settlement, mediation, or trial.
Selected Representations
Litigation
Alex has litigated jury and bench trials at the Daley Center, the 26th and California Courthouse, 400 W. Superior, 555 W. Harrison, Maywood Courthouse and Kane County Courthouse. Alex presents his cases to make them relatable and understandable to a judge or jury, and tries to connect with either finder of fact on a personal and engaging level. Clients often seek litigation because the personal nature of the dispute makes it difficult to convey the message clients are trying to deliver. Our job is to take the message, contextualize it, and frame if for a judge or jury. Alex uses any and all information available to him to select the best jury possible for his clients, whether the information is from an obviously disgruntled juror, or a juror that may seem too eager to serve in the case. Facial expressions, attire, personal preferences and court demeanor are all factors we consider when selecting the best jury for our clients.
Investigations and White-Collar Defense
Alex has defended and represented employers and businesses of all sizes, ranging from startups, to mom and pop operations, to nationwide businesses. These cases have ranged from fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, breach of partnership, and under the Consumer Law Fraud and Deceptive Businesses Practices Act.
